Select videosExtract audio from any video — right in your browser. This free Audio Extractor pulls the sound track out of MP4, MOV, MKV, WEBM and more, with lossless original copy, eight output formats, multi-track detection, frame-accurate segment selection and audio optimization. Your videos never leave your device, and it’s completely free.
Extract audio from MP4, MOV, AVI, MKV, WEBM, FLV, WMV, M4V, MPEG, TS, OGV and 3GP.
Pull the audio track out exactly as-is — instant and with zero quality loss when no edits are needed.
Export to MP3, WAV, AAC, FLAC, OGG, OPUS, M4A or WMA at any bitrate up to 320 kbps.
Detect multiple audio tracks (languages, commentary, surround) and extract the one you want.
Extract the whole audio or just a selected segment with a frame-accurate timeline.
Normalize loudness, adjust volume, fade in/out, remove silence and control metadata.
Drop several videos and extract them all, then download every track in one go.
No upload, no account, no watermark. Everything runs in your browser, forever free.
Drag and drop your video, or click to browse. MP4, MOV, MKV, WEBM and many more are supported.
The tool reads the resolution, codecs, duration and detects every audio track automatically.
Pick the audio track (if there are several), an output format like MP3 or WAV, and the quality.
Select a segment on the timeline, normalize loudness, fade, or remove silence.
Click Extract Audio, preview it next to the original, then download your audio file — no watermark.
Audio extraction is the process of pulling the sound track out of a video file and saving it as a standalone audio file. Instead of keeping a whole video just for its music, dialogue or narration, you get a small, shareable audio file you can play, edit or upload anywhere.
This Audio Extractor does it for free, entirely in your browser. There is nothing to install and nothing to upload: your video is decoded and its audio extracted on your own device with WebAssembly FFmpeg. When you don’t need any changes, the audio is copied out losslessly — bit-for-bit identical to the original — and when you do, it’s re-encoded to the exact format and quality you choose.
Extracting audio takes seconds. Upload a video, choose how you want the audio, and download — nothing is uploaded and there’s no watermark.
The right output format depends on what you’ll do with the audio. MP3 is the universal choice that plays everywhere. AAC/M4A is more efficient at the same bitrate and ideal for Apple devices. Opus is the most efficient of all — perfect for voice and the web. For editing or archiving, choose a lossless format: WAV (uncompressed) or FLAC (lossless but compressed, so smaller).
If you simply want the original sound with no quality change at all, use the “Original (lossless copy)” mode — it copies the existing track straight out without re-encoding, which is both instant and perfectly lossless.
For lossy formats, bitrate controls the balance between quality and size. 64–96 kbps is plenty for speech and podcasts; 128–192 kbps is great for general listening; 256–320 kbps is for high-quality music. Mono halves the size of voice recordings with no audible loss, while stereo preserves the full soundstage of music.
Match the sample rate to the source where possible — 44.1 kHz is CD quality and 48 kHz is standard for video. Re-encoding from a video’s audio can never add quality the source didn’t have, so for the very best result, extract losslessly or at a high bitrate.
You can extract audio from MP4, MOV, AVI, MKV, WEBM, FLV, WMV, M4V, MPEG, TS, OGV and 3GP. The tool reads each file’s streams directly, so even formats your browser can’t play natively are decoded correctly by FFmpeg.
Container formats like MKV and MP4 can hold several audio tracks — different languages, director’s commentary, or a surround mix. The Audio Extractor detects them all and lets you choose which track (or all of them) to pull out.
Creators rip the audio from a recorded interview or stream to publish as a podcast. Musicians grab a song from a music video. Students save a lecture’s narration to listen on the go. Editors pull a clean audio bed for a new project.
It’s also the fastest way to convert a video message to a voice note, get a ringtone from a clip, or shrink a video down to just the part you actually need — the sound. Batch mode turns a whole folder of videos into audio files at once.
Your video never leaves your computer. All decoding and extraction happens inside your browser tab with WebAssembly FFmpeg, so there is no upload, no cloud copy and no third party handling your footage.
Only your chosen settings can be saved locally for convenience. The video and the extracted audio are held in memory and released as soon as the extraction completes.
| Format | Best for | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| MP3 | Everywhere | Universal lossy — the safe default. |
| M4A / AAC | Apple, efficiency | Better than MP3 at low bitrates; often a lossless copy from MP4. |
| OPUS | Voice, web | Best quality per bit; smallest files. |
| OGG | Open / web | Royalty-free Vorbis. |
| WAV | Editing | Uncompressed PCM — perfect, large. |
| FLAC | Archiving | Lossless, ~40% smaller than WAV. |
| WMA | Legacy Windows | Falls back to MP3 if the encoder is absent. |
